Meet The Team

Meet our team below.

Trustees

I am retired and have lived in Nantwich for over 45 years. I am happily married to Ken, who is a retired police officer. Our two daughters and their children live locally too.

I spent 25 years working at a local high school, where I supported sixth form students in reaching their full potential in achieving their goals. I was also a union rep for a while, which was a different kind of challenge!

Eight years ago, my life changed when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Going through that experience made me realize there was a gap in aftercare support locally. That’s why I started Cheshire Roses – to create a space where women can find the help and companionship they need. Helping others has always been important to me, and being part of this group is incredibly rewarding.

I have lived in Nantwich for over twenty years and during that time, apart from operating my own businesses, I have been involved in many local groups; Chairman of the South Cheshire Local Area Partnership, Vice Chair of the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, Chair of Nantwich Partnership and Governor of a local secondary school. It was during this role that I met Kay Maple.

After working on the Isle of Bute, where I led the establishment of the Isle of Bute Business Improvement District, I have returned ‘home’ and was delighted to be asked by Kay to be Chair of the Trustees for Cheshire Roses.

I live in Shavington with my husband and two sons, and I am Kay’s daughter. I have supported my mum from when she had the idea of forming Cheshire Roses, and continue to do so.

I grew up in Nantwich, and when I left school, instead of going to university I followed my dream of working as long-haul cabin crew for ten years.  Whilst travelling the world I gained confidence and skills, particularly in dealing difficult situations.

When I left the life of cabin crew I moved to Newcastle-under-Lyme where I worked as a rota coordinator at Royal Staffs University hospital.  This was a very challenging job where I used my communication skills to aid the smooth running of the service.

After the birth of my sons, we made the decision to move back to my home town.  I now work at a local sixth form college as the Learning Manager, where my main goal is to support students in achieving their potential.

It is my honour now to sit on the board of trustees and support Cheshire Roses as it continues to flourish.

Suzanne works as a Psychotherapist from her Private Practice in Alsager. She also volunteers as Counsellor at St Luke’s Hospice. There she supports clients who are on their own Cancer journey, and those who are accompanying a loved one.

Together with her husband, she relocated from Buckinghamshire to Cheshire nearly five years ago. A mother of two sons and now having two young granddaughters, she enjoys  family life with all its challenges.

The qualities which she brings to her therapy practice will support her in the role of Trustee with Cheshire Roses. She has a strong awareness of boundaries, aiming to always work ethically.  Carefully considering how to fulfil essential safety and legal obligations, she will strive to be sincere, making a personal commitment to consistency between what is professed and what is done, whilst always respecting human rights and dignity.

Originally from Middlewich I have now lived in Nantwich for over 25 years. I'm a married mum of two grown up children, both of whom currently live away at University.

Following my own University graduation, I began a career in Advertising in Manchester and now have over 30 years Marketing and Advertising experience, mainly in the Financial Services sector. I'm looking to bring these business and communication skills to help support the Cheshire Roses.
